Marchand helps Bruins win Stanley Cup Thu Jun 16 00:32:00 2011 EST

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Brad Marchand was more star forward than agitator in the Boston Bruins' Stanley Cup-winning game Wednesday night.

The fiesty rookie set up Patrice Bergeron for the first goal late in the first period, added one of his own with 7:47 left in the second, and scored his 11th of the playoffs into an empty net.

Marchand, who lived up to his reputation as a ``rat'' with seven uncontested gloved punches to the face of Daniel Sedin at the end of a Game 6 he also

Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - Plying his trade in a city that's known for endless drama during interminable waits for their professional sports teams to win a championship, it's fitting that Tim Thomas was honored for helping the Boston Bruins claim their first Stanley Cup in 39 years. Thomas, born a little less than two years after the B's won their last championship, didn't make his National Hockey League debut until he was 28 years old, during the 2002-03 season. Toronto, Canada (Sports Network) - Once again the focus of this Stanley Cup Final has shifted towards a serious injury. First it was Boston Bruins forward Nathan Horton who was severely concussed by a blindside hit in Game 3 and subsequently lost for the rest of the series. Now it is Vancouver Canucks winger Mason Raymond who will miss Wednesday's Game 7 with a broken vertebra sustained after being taken into the boards by Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk in Game 6. ia, PA (Sports Network) - Knowing what home ice has meant so far in this series it's hard not to envision the Canucks hoisting Lord Stanley's Cup after Wednesday's Game 7 in Vancouver. That being said, wouldn't you feel better if you were the Boston Bruins heading into the upcoming decisive contest? After all, the B's notched another lopsided victory in Boston on Monday, and despite not winning a game in Vancouver, Claude Julien's club has been very competitive on the road in this series. Of co

Toronto, Canada (Sports Network) - There's no consolation in the aftermath of losing the Stanley Cup Final - especially in a winner-take-all Game 7 - but that will become an unfortunate reality for either the Boston Bruins or Vancouver Canucks Wednesday night. But not all is lost, despite the hurt felt by the losing side, as the Canucks and Bruins are positioned for long-term success after years of building and developing Cup contenders. It's a different story from a year ago, when the rebuildi
